Hello everyone! My name is Haley Wilde and I am one of the Senior Coordinators for Jane Alexandra Events.
I am 21 years old and from Temecula, CA, although I currently live in Santa Barbara for school with my high school sweetheart, Domenic. We just celebrated 4 years together in January, and he is my absolute best friend and biggest supporter.
When I’m not working weddings or doing schoolwork, I can typically be found running around Disneyland, taking photos for Instagram, or watching horror movies. I am quite the enthusiast of all things Halloween, haunts, and horror, so I’m counting down the days until October at any and every moment because that is truly when I thrive. If you need any recommendations for horror films or haunted houses- I’m your girl.
As far as weddings go, I am totally the person who has been planning and envisioning my dream wedding for as long as I can possibly remember. My favorite memories are staying up late in middle school with my best friend saving photos from the internet into little folders on my desktop, and editing fake invitations to have mine and my celebrity crush’s names on them. I also planned and organized every single birthday party I can remember as a child by making very detailed Word documents and Powerpoints with the lists of phone numbers my parents needed to call. So I guess you can say event planning is kind of in my blood!
Along with planning, I’ve also always had a passion for art. Luckily for me, those things go hand in hand and I get to create awesome signage for JAE clients! My favorite sign I’ve made so far is definitely this Cinco de Mayo engagement/surprise wedding sign because it was so colorful and I really got to be creative with the cacti!
Wedding planning was always my dream job in the back of my mind, but since there’s typically no set out degree path for it, when I got to college I struggled. I switched from major to major attempting to find the perfect fit with no avail. It wasn’t until one of my best friends got married that I not only reignited my love for planning events, but I realized that this is really what I’m meant to do. From that point, I messaged Jane asking for a chance to learn, and the rest is history. I have now worked with Jane for about a year and a half, and I absolutely love it. It is such an amazing job, and the JAE team is such a little family that it makes working weddings infinitely more fun!
My favorite part of weddings is tied between when the couple writes their own vows, and first dance. There has never been a moment in any wedding I’ve worked where I didn’t at least tear up listening to personal vows being shared. It’s such an intimate moment where the bride and groom truly get to profess their love for one another in front of all of their loved ones, and if that’s not worth getting teary eyed over i don’t know what is. As a wedding coordinator, it’s also a moment to genuinely get to know the bride and groom’s relationship in a way that you might not have otherwise gotten a chance to. I also absolutely love the first dance because I get so excited to see what song they chose. Your first dance song is always so personal, and you can tell a lot about a couple by their choice.
I have learned so much over my time working as a wedding coordinator. From little things like setting up escort cards or how to properly run a rehearsal- to bigger things like learning to go with the flow and expecting the unexpected. I am very type A, and love to have everything planned out (hence why I became a wedding planner), but weddings have forced me to accept that you can’t control everything and it’s important to be able to handle things as they happen, because you never know what each wedding will bring!
My advice for brides and grooms is to just enjoy the moment, and let us take care of the rest! Hiring a wedding coordinator is the best thing you can possibly do, because we will worry about making sure everything goes perfectly, and you can just enjoy having everyone you love in one space ready to party. When we do our job correctly, you will never even have to know what time it is.
Also, this is your day, not anyone else's, so don’t worry too much about accommodating everyone. It’s important to be at least a little selfish on your wedding day, because it truly should be a reflection of your love for one another, and nothing else.
My personal wedding style is definitely on the moodier side of things. Because of my lifelong love for Halloween, I want to get married in late October with subtle hints of spookiness. I am super inspired by industrial style wedding venues, ceremonies by candlelight, and moodier jewel tone color schemes. An up and coming wedding trend that I also thing is amazing and would love to incorporate in my wedding one day is custom neon wedding signs!
The words I try to live by are “if you see something beautiful in someone, speak it.” I try my hardest to spread kindness whenever I can, and if I have a positive thought to never suppress it. I mean, when is it ever going to be a bad thing to give someone a compliment? Never. The world could use more kindness!
