Hi I’m Chloe, one of Jane Alexandra Events Senior Coordinators!
I was born in Santa Barbara but after only a couple of years my family quickly moved to a suburb of Ventura County called Oak Park. I grew up in that little town from the time I was 2 until I headed to UCLA for college. At UCLA I started out as a dance major. I had danced my whole life and was beyond proud to have gotten into such a well respected program. However, after about a year, I realized that the dance life would not be for me long term and therefore moved on to become a Sociology major. Upon graduating UCLA, I jumped into the world of marketing and advertising. After working in the field for 4 years, I went through a major quarter life crisis (they’re real I swear!), and one night called Jane, a long time family friend of mine who had just started her own wedding planning business. It had been awhile since Jane and I had really connected and after a little small talk, I blatantly stated, “So I’m really unhappy in my career and what you’re doing looks amazing. How’d you do that and how can I be a part of it?”. We ended up talking for almost two hours that night. At the end of the phone call she said, “Why don’t you come be my assistant for the day and see how you like it?”. After that first wedding, I was hooked.
I’ve learned a lot since that first wedding. I remember having no idea how to fold a napkin properly, set up escort cards, write or follow a day of timeline, know where everyone in the wedding party was supposed to stand, or what the behind the scenes even looked like. I followed Jane around as she did her thing just asking how I could help. I remember being asked a question by the bride and was terrified because I didn’t know the answer. If working in marketing/advertising taught me anything it was to confidently respond that you needed to “double check”. Luckily Jane knew the answer immediately!
Flash forward to today, I currently live in LA with my boyfriend, Jon and cat, Mila. I met Jon when we were in kindergarten. Senior year of high school we suddenly had a spark and here we are living together today. Mila was a graduation present from UCLA, and yes I’m one of those crazy pet moms that refers to her cat as her child. When I’m not working weddings, I’m either lounging on the couch watching The Office with Jon and MIla or spending the day with my family. My mom, sister, and her three kids live less than 2 miles from me so I get a lot of family time in. I have a 7 year old niece and twin 2 year old niece and nephew that I can’t seem to get enough of.
Looking back on the last 3.5 years working with JAE, I have to say my favorite wedding I’ve ever worked with also one of the hardest. It was a new venue that we weren’t used to, the place was huge so it required a lot of running around, and on top of all of that it was 95 degrees and windy. I know most people say rain is the worst weather to have a wedding in, but in Southern California it’s heat and wind! At one point I had the photographer standing at the ready while I quickly organized the escort cards so he could get at least one shot before they all blew away. It must’ve been the 5th time I had set them up! And yet, it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have worked. The couple was so naturally in love, the extremities meant that the various vendors and teams had to collaborate more to get everything executed according to plan, and the colors and decor were exactly my style (let’s call it elegant ethereal).
Now that you know a little bit more about me, I can’t wait to get to know you!
