There's nothing better than using your mother’s wedding dress as an inspiration for your wedding. We are obsessed with how this “From Mom To Modern Wedding Inspiration” Anniversary styled shoot came out. We are beyond honored to receive a feature in Wedding Chicks. You can see that here.
This Styled Anniversary Session was inspired by a revamped Vintage Wedding Dress that was originally worn by Arielle's mother in 1980. When Arielle and Phil got engaged she decided to intrust Grace Bridal Couture with the task of modernizing the dress so that she could wear it to their rehearsal dinner. Arielle said" It was one of the most meaningful, creative experiences I could ever ask for and the dress will remain a family heirloom that my little sister hopes to wear someday."
Arielle loved the way the dress turned out so much that she wanted to wear it again for a 1 year anniversary session with their Wedding Photographer, Katrina Jayne. When Katrina saw the dress she too felt overwhelmed with inspiration and asked Arielle if she could turn the session into a styled shoot. Katrina contacted me to help with the Planning and Design of the Shoot and together we were able to get some other amazing vendors on board!
Inspired by the dress we decided that the style of the shoot should be Vintage/Modern. We definitely wanted to add our own twist on the extremely popular wedding theme so we decided to go with bright vibrant colors that would really pop!
Nineteen27 Vintage has this amazing couch with bright mix matched buttons that seemed as if it was made for this shoot and their gold bar cart fit perfectly with our vintage/modern theme.
Kelsey with Darlingtonia Designs created the most unbelievable garland that turned the bar cart into a work of art and the matching bouquet was so unique and colorful filled with pepper tree fern, peonies, hellebores, hawthorn, and english roses!
Arielle and Phil had their original cake topper from their wedding! It has been sitting in the freezer for the past year and still looked incredible. One of their close friends hand made the cake for them which made it even more special.
The hand painted macarons were done by the talented Katherine (owner of Katherine's Sweets) which were almost too pretty to eat.. almost..
Arielle is no stranger to fashion. She runs her own fashion blog (Relish By Arielle) so we knew we could count on her to handle her own accessories. The Oscar De La Renta Veil was originally intended for her to wear on their wedding day but she ended up going with another option so this was the perfect chance for her to wear it! She wore the same Monolo Blahnik's she wore walking down the aisle and paired them with some vintage earnings and a charm bracelet that was given to her by both sets of Grandparents starting when she was 13 years old.
We wanted Arielle to have a fresh, classic face and her hair to have a modern twist on a classic updo. Amanda Rae really bought that vision to life and Arielle looked absolutely stunning!
The love story of Arielle and Phil sounded like something out of a movie. They met when Arielle auditioned for the lead singer role in Phil's band. Phil and Arielle tried singing together with the band and the rest quickly became history--she got the part. You can see their love in these photos.. they still have that newlywed glow a year later. It was such a pleasure learning about their love story and turning one inspiring dress into this Vintage/Modern styled shoot! Enjoy!
